The Chamber would like to thank its members and all who worked for the passage of the Lisbon Treaty. The Dun Laoghaire and Dubliun South constituencies, which encompass the entire area of the Dun Laoghaire Rathdow nChamber, were the cornerstone of the referendum's passage with outstanding voter turnout and the highest percentages of "YES" votes.
Our particular appreciation goes our elected officials, business leaders and county residents who canvassed the county to increase voters awareness of the treaty, the "Irish" guarantees and the actual contents and effect of the Treaty.
The successful referendum is a key step on our road to economic recovery. Now is the time for both sides to work together on the next, and perhaps most difficult steps, which will involve making Ireland a competitive place to start and grow a business as private employment is the foundation for economic health and employment in the country.
