1. Department of Communications, Climate Action & Environment Consultation Survey
The Department of Communications, Climate Action & Environment has published a new free survey for business focusing on Energy Efficiency for Business, focusing on its many benefits as well as the resources currently available to businesses to become more energy efficient.
The survey can be completed anonymously, it takes no more than 10 – 15 minutes to complete and it’s a means to offer your voice on how business can be better supported to improve energy efficiency.

The consultation survey will be open for completion until 5pm October 25th.

2. The One4all Spotlight Awards 2017

The One4all Spotlight Awards, in association with Chambers Ireland, have been launched to help shine a light on employees that deserve special recognition within their organisations. With recent research showing that 40% of Irish companies do not offer any sort of benefit/reward for staff loyalty, this is your opportunity to recognise and reward a member of staff who goes above and beyond in their role to achieve success.
The Spotlights are completely free to enter, and submitting your entry takes less than five minutes. Whether you have a great colleague who deserves a little more recognition or an outstanding team member who has contributed to the success of your business, the Spotlights are your chance to say ‘thank you’.
The Spotlights will be judged by a panel of judges that will include independent and Chambers representatives from around the country. One overall Spotlights winner will be chosen and awarded a €500 One4all Gift Card and a trophy, while Silver and Bronze winners will receive €300 and €200 Gift Cards respectively.

3. Enterprise Ireland- Meet the Buyer for the construction of the new children’s hospital

4. Supporting Entrepreneurship-Chamber initiatives to support start-ups and scale-ups
At Chambers Ireland, we’re working with our colleagues in Eurochambres to gather data on the kinds of initiatives that Chambers are supporting to help start-up and scale-up companies. 5. Taking Care of Business – Dublin 2017
Thirty state bodies and services will give expert advice and information to SMEs, start-ups and entrepreneurs at Taking Care of Business, a free one-stop-shop event taking place on Wednesday November 8 in the Printworks Conference Centre in Dublin Castle.
The Taking Care of Business event has been specifically designed to help small and start-up businesses understand and benefit from the services provided by many of our State offices and agencies.
The keynote speaker for the event will be Tánaiste and Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Frances Fitzgerald TD.

6. Data Protection for Chambers
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into force on the 25th May 2018, replacing the existing data protection framework under the EU Data Protection Directive. Under the Irish Data Protection Acts, a data controller is the individual or the legal person who controls and is responsible for the keeping and use of personal information on computer or in structured manual files. Therefore, Chambers and businesses resident in Ireland who are processing or collecting personal data come under the title of data controllers and are thus required to comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Acts.

The Data Protection Commissioner (GDP) has launched a GDPR-specific website www.GDPRandYou.ie with guidance to help individuals and organisations become more aware of their enhanced rights and responsibilities under the General Data Protection Regulation.
The DPC has also prepared an introductory document for organisations to help them as they transition to GDPR: “The GDPR and You”. This document lists 12 steps which organisations should take in order to be GDPR ready by 25 May 2018. It should be noted that the guide is not an exhaustive list and organisations should ensure that their preparations take account of all actions required to bring them into compliance with the new law. |
