Ireland is an important new market for RWE and we are currently undertaking investment into onshore wind, offshore wind and battery storage projects with the potential to run into many €billions of direct investment into the Irish economy.

RWE Renewables Ireland develops, owns and operates renewable energy projects independently and in partnership with other Irish businesses. Our locally-based team of qualified and experienced industry professionals, along with a global team of technical experts, offers assurance that all projects achieve their maximum potential.

Our objective is to expand our renewables’ activities in Ireland, which also assists Ireland in achieving its climate targets. We aim to do this through the growth of an organic development business, from greenfield sites, and as a partner where we can offer unrivalled development capability, financial strength and extensive expertise in technology and obtaining a route to market for projects.

Dublin Array Offshore Wind Farm

The largest RWE Renewables Ireland project currently in development is the Dublin Array Offshore Wind Farm, jointly owned by RWE and Saorgus Energy. The wind farm will be located approximately 10km from the coast of Dublin and Wicklow counties and will have an electricity generation capacity of between 600 and 900 megawatts (MW). This equates to the electricity needs of approximately 565,000 to 845,000 average Irish homes, depending on the final project design.

As well as the benefits Dublin Array will bring through helping Ireland achieve its climate targets and further decarbonising of the electricity grid in Ireland, there will also be numerous economic benefits, including job creation during the construction and operation of the wind farm, community benefit funding and tax payments.

The Dublin Array project office is located in Dún Laoghaire as this is a key location for the project and a potential location for the Operations and Maintenance base for the wind farm. We have been consulting with local stakeholders throughout the development to-date, including through a public consultation event held online in Autumn 2020 which attracted over 5,000 participants. We have a full time Community Liaison Officer, Eda Martin, who is available to engage with any local community members who wish to do so.

She can be contacted via email at dublinarray@rwe.com or via our project phoneline 01 9020317. We encourage you to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.

You can view a range of project information on the website www.dublinarray.com, including the information that was presented during the Autumn 2020 public consultation.
